SAN FRANCISCO, May 30, (THEWILL) – News of Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye returning to the PDP is not correct.
Melaye, representing Kogi West on the platform of the All Progressives Party (APC) resumed Plenary on Wednesday after a brush with the Nigerian Police which led to him sustaining injuries in an attempt to wrest free from police custody.
Earlier, we had reported news of his return to the People’s Democratic Party bit it has been clarified that Melaye only just announced that he is no longer “comfortable sitting on the APC side of the Chambers”.
“He simply requested to sit on the ‘other side’ of the Chambers. This is not the same as defecting to any other party. A defection will require an announcement of a new party,”
Melaye told his colleagues that the police attempted to kill him twice by trying to inject him.
The senator was arrested by the police last month over alleged illegal possession of ammunition.
