May 28 (THEWILL) — Meta Platforms has begun the global rollout of new subscription plans across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp as the technology giant accelerates efforts to diversify revenue beyond digital advertising.

The company announced on Wednesday that the new “Plus” subscription plans will offer users additional premium features, including profile customisation tools, enhanced story controls, audience insights, and exclusive engagement options. Subscription fees will range from $2.99 to $3.99 monthly depending on the platform.

Meta said the rollout targets creators, influencers, and heavy users seeking deeper engagement tools and expanded platform functionality.

According to Meta’s Head of Product, Naomi Gleit, more features will be added over time as the company expands its subscription ecosystem.

Under the new structure, Instagram Plus users will gain access to features such as story rewatch analytics, unlimited audience lists beyond “Close Friends,” invisible story previews, extended story visibility beyond 24 hours, and weekly story spotlight promotions for additional reach. Subscribers will also have access to custom fonts, profile customisation tools, and animated reactions.

Facebook Plus will offer similar engagement-focused features, while WhatsApp Plus introduces app themes, premium stickers, custom ringtones, additional pinned chats, and expanded list management tools.

Meta also disclosed plans to begin testing AI-focused subscription tiers under a broader initiative branded “Meta One.”

The AI plans, priced at $7.99 and $19.99 monthly, are designed for users of the company’s Meta AI platform and will provide enhanced reasoning capabilities, greater computing power, and expanded image and video generation tools.

Testing for the AI subscriptions is expected to begin next month in selected markets, including Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia.

The company clarified that the new offerings are separate from its existing Meta Verified service, which focuses on account verification and impersonation protection.
