July 08, (THEWILL) — Momentum is building ahead of the 2025 edition of the Nigeria Auto Industry Summit (NAISU) scheduled to hold on July 31 in Lagos, as major players in the automotive sector have thrown their weight behind the event.
The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), along with key industry giants such as Toyota Nigeria Limited, Carloha, Weststar Associates Limited, Lanre Shittu Motors (LSM), and Nord, have confirmed their participation in this year’s summit.
In addition to NADDC, other major partners supporting this year’s summit—organised by the Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA)—include the Nigeria Association of Automotive Manufacturers (NAMA) and the African Association of Automobile Manufacturers (AAAM).
Building on the success of the inaugural summit held last year, NAJA says expectations are high for an even more impactful event in 2025.
According to a statement by NAJA, the theme for this year’s summit is “Nigeria First: Local Content as Catalyst for Automotive Economy.”
The association described the event as a strategic platform for driving conversations around local content and the federal government’s long-anticipated Auto Industry Development Plan.
Chairman of the Summit Organising Committee, Mike Ochonma, said: “Last year, NAJA launched the Nigeria Auto Industry Summit (NAISU) as a forum for stakeholders to engage critically with the challenges and prospects of the Nigerian auto industry.
This year, we aim to deepen that dialogue with even broader participation from public and private sector players.”
He added that key government agencies including the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have confirmed their participation in the 2025 summit.
NAJA Chairman, Theodore Opara, also expressed optimism about the summit’s growing relevance, stating: “NAISU has come to stay, as shown by the enthusiastic support from stakeholders across the board.
“The level of interest this year signals that the summit is on the right track and is becoming a critical part of the automotive calendar in Nigeria.”
Opara further noted that this year’s edition would place special focus on promoting local content as a key driver of industrial growth, as well as the much-anticipated finalisation and implementation of the federal government’s Auto Industry Development Plan.
“This year’s NAISU promises to be a stronger, more solution-driven edition, with plans already in top gear to meet and exceed expectations,” he said.
With stakeholder support deepening and dialogue around policy and investment intensifying, the 2025 NAISU is shaping up to be a defining moment for Nigeria’s automotive sector.
