
BEVERLY HILLS, June 01, (THEWILL) – The Registrar of the National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof. Godswill Obioma, has been reported killed by unknown assailants
Obioma was said to have been killed on Monday night when the assailants invaded his house at Minna, Niger State, and strangled him to death.
His killers took nothing.
Confirming the incident on Tuesday morning, his distraught wife, Elizabeth, said: “The assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything.”
She told an online newspaper, Peoples Gazette that her husband had just returned to Minna, Niger State, from Abuja, when the armed men came into his home and attacked him.
The police are yet to speak on the incident.
A Professor of Education Measurement and Evaluation and a former Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Educational Research and Development Council, Obioma was appointed CEO of NECO on May 22, 2020.
Until his appointment as NECO Registrar, Obioma was the Ebonyi State Resident Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The deceased hailed from Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
