December 03, (THEWILL) – The National Emergency Management Agency has distributed relief materials to victims of flooding and banditry in Sokoto South Senatorial District.
The distribution, which took place in Shagari town, was aimed at easing the suffering of the affected communities.
NEMA’s Director General, Dr. Zubaida Umar, who was represented by Aliyu Kafindangi, the Head of NEMA’s Sokoto Operations Office, emphasised the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting disaster victims.
The exercise was conducted in collaboration with Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who represents the zone in the National Assembly.
Among the items distributed were food supplies, including rice, maize, tomato paste, and iodized salt, as well as non-food items such as bedding materials and toiletries.
Hundreds of beneficiaries across the seven local government areas within Sokoto South Senatorial Zone received the assistance.
Tambuwal thanked the federal government and NEMA for the swift intervention, assuring his constituents that the relief materials would be distributed fairly across the area.
The event also saw the attendance of former Minister of Transport, Yusuf Suleiman, and other notable dignitaries.
