November 13, (THEWILL) – The creative director of Moschino, David Renne, is dead, aged 46
The unfortunate event occurred just nine days after he officially assumed the position of Moschino’s new creative director.
Massimo Ferretti, the chairman of Aeffe, Moschino’s parent company, issued a statement on the label’s Instagram, confirming the untimely passing of Renne.
“There are no words to describe the pain we are experiencing at this dramatic time. Davide joined us only a few days ago, when a sudden illness took him from us too soon. We still can’t believe what happened.
“With Davide, we were working on an ambitious project, in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and optimism for the future. Even though he was only with us for a very short time, Davide was able to immediately make himself loved and respected. Today we are left with the responsibility of carrying on what his imagination and creativity had only envisioned. Our deepest sympathies go to his family and friends,” Ferretti wrote.
As of November 1, Renne assumed his new role, succeeding Jeremy Scott, who led Moschino for a decade.
Renne, formerly the head of womenswear at Gucci, collaborated closely with the house’s former creative director Alessandro Michele. His inaugural show as Moschino’s creative director was scheduled for February during Milan Fashion Week.
Established in Milan in 1983 by Franco Moschino, the eponymous brand has consistently pushed boundaries, offering a refreshing interpretation of society and culture. Through high-low fashion, it has continuously challenged conventionality, shaping a distinctive presence in the fashion scene.
