March 26, (THEWILL) — Nigeria’s equities market closed slightly higher today as gains in several mid-cap stocks supported the benchmark index despite a larger number of declining equities.

Market capitalisation rose marginally from ₦128.977 trillion at the opening to ₦128.997 trillion at the close, while the NGX All-Share Index (ASI) advanced from 200,925.75 points to 200,957.89 points.

Market breadth closed negative with 30 gainers and 36 losers, reflecting cautious trading sentiment among investors even as selective buying lifted key counters.

Top Gainers

1 PREMPAINTS surged by 10.00 percent (N31.00 to N34.10).

2 ZICHIS advanced 10.00 percent (N11.40 to N12.54).

3 LEGENDINT gained 9.92 percent (N7.26 to N7.98).

4 JOHNHOLT rose 9.87 percent (N15.70 to N17.25).

5 MCNICHOLS climbed 9.76 percent (N6.15 to N6.75).

Top Losers

1 UPL declined -9.17 percent (N6.00 to N5.45).

2 SUNUASSUR fell -8.88 percent (N4.73 to N4.31).

3 VERITASKAP dropped -6.98 percent (N2.15 to N2.00).

4 FTNCOCOA shed -6.67 percent (N6.00 to N5.60).

5 NGXGROUP slipped -6.46 percent (N180.40 to N168.75).

Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Nestle Nigeria Plc, PZ Cussons, Unilever Nigeria Plc, and Vitafoam Nigeria Plc, among others, closed flat for the session.

Overall, the marginal uptick in the benchmark index suggests selective accumulation in a few counters, even as profit-taking across other stocks kept market breadth in negative territory.
