NGX-Equities Market -Stocks-Sell off

July 01 (THEWILL) — The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) closed lower on Wednesday, extending its bearish run as sustained selling pressure across key counters erased ₦2.39 trillion from investors’ wealth.

Market capitalisation declined from ₦147.217 trillion at the opening of trade to ₦144.824 trillion at the close, while the All-Share Index (ASI) fell by 3,729.11 basis points, closing at 225,690.07 from an opening level of 229,419.18.

Market breadth remained firmly negative, with 19 gainers against 32 losers, reflecting continued weak investor sentiment.

Top Gainers

1. AUSTINLAZ gained 10.00 percent (₦3.00 to ₦3.30).

2. GUINEAINS advanced 9.89 percent (₦0.91 to ₦1.00).

3. ABBEYBANK appreciated 9.66 percent (₦7.25 to ₦7.95).

4. DAARCOMM climbed 9.60 percent (₦1.25 to ₦1.37).

5. REGALINS rose 9.52 percent (₦0.84 to ₦0.92).

Top Decliners

1. MCNICHOLS fell 10.00 percent (₦8.50 to ₦7.65).

2. NEIMETH shed 10.00 percent (₦9.00 to ₦8.10).

3. ARADEL declined 10.00 percent (₦1,417.50 to ₦1,275.80).

4. NASCON lost 9.98 percent (₦219.50 to ₦197.60).

5. INTBREW dropped 9.52 percent (₦10.50 to ₦9.50).

Meanwhile, Lafarge Africa Plc, Seplat Energy, Okomu Oil Palm, Julius Berger, Golden Guinea Brewery, and Nestlé Nigeria Plc, among others, closed the session unchanged.
