May 18, (THEWILL) — The Nigerian Exchange Group has strengthened its investor education campaign with a new digital engagement initiative aimed at improving financial literacy and expanding retail participation in Nigeria’s capital market.
As part of the effort, the Group recently hosted an X Space session themed “Follow the Fundamentals: A Beginner’s Guide to the Stock Market,” which attracted more than 5,000 participants.
The audience largely comprised young Nigerians, first-time investors, and retail market participants seeking to better understand investment opportunities and market operations.
The session featured social media investment influencer Omiete Inko-Tariah alongside representatives from Nigerian Exchange Limited and NGX Regulation Limited.
Discussions focused on simplifying core stock market concepts, including how the market operates, investor protection mechanisms, and responsible participation in the capital market.
Beyond educational insights, the session also served as an interactive platform where retail investors engaged directly with market stakeholders, raising questions around market transparency, accessibility, and investor confidence.
Commenting on the initiative, Clifford Akpolo, Head of Group Communications and Partnerships at NGX Group, emphasised the strategic importance of financial literacy in strengthening the investment ecosystem.
He noted that expanding retail participation remains critical to building a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable capital market.
According to him, financial literacy is not merely an educational obligation but a strategic tool for boosting investor confidence, improving market accessibility, and enabling long-term wealth creation for Nigerians.
Akpolo added that digital platforms provide an effective channel for engaging a new generation of investors and democratizing access to capital market knowledge.
The initiative forms part of NGX Group’s broader sustainability agenda under its Community pillar, which focuses on advancing financial literacy, inclusion, and economic empowerment through education-driven and stakeholder-focused programmes.
Following the success of the session, NGX Group said it plans to sustain similar digital engagements as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen investor confidence, deepen retail participation, and support the development of a more resilient and inclusive investment ecosystem.
