
June 5 (THEWILL) — The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) ended Friday’s trading session on a positive note as renewed buying interest across key counters lifted the market higher, with gainers significantly outpacing losers.
Market capitalisation advanced by ₦234 billion to close at ₦155.593 trillion, up from ₦155.359 trillion recorded at the previous session’s close.
Similarly, the All-Share Index (ASI) gained 366.00 points to settle at 242,593.31, compared to 242,227.31 on Thursday.
Market breadth closed firmly in positive territory, with 39 gainers against 11 losers, reflecting improved investor sentiment.

• DAAR Communications Plc appreciated by 10.00 percent (to close at ₦1.98 from ₦1.80).
• Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc gained 10.00 percent (to settle at ₦9.35 from ₦8.50).
• International Energy Insurance Plc advanced by 10.00 percent (to close at ₦7.26 from ₦6.60).
• Chisco Transport Plc rose by 9.39 percent (to ₦32.38 from ₦29.60).
• Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc increased by 8.70 percent (to close at ₦2.50 from ₦2.30).
Top Losers
• Academy Press Plc declined by 9.84 percent (to close at ₦8.25 from ₦9.15).
• Universal Insurance Plc (UPL) shed 9.73 percent (to settle at ₦5.10 from ₦5.65).
• VFD Group Plc lost 7.59 percent (to close at ₦10.35 from ₦11.20).
• Africa Prudential Plc depreciated by 2.63 percent (to ₦12.95 from ₦13.30).
• Chams Holding Company Plc fell by 2.44 percent (to close at ₦4.00 from ₦4.10).
Meanwhile, several bellwether stocks closed unchanged, including Dangote Cement Plc, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Custodian Investment Plc, Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Nestlé Nigeria Plc, and Unilever Nigeria Plc.
The session’s performance reflects renewed bargain-hunting activity as investors positioned in insurance, financial services, and select small-cap stocks, helping the market close the week in positive territory.
