SAN FRANCISCO, September 27, (THEWILL) – The Primate, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, the tantam has called for national repentance to stop the “recurring bloodletting and other national challenges.”

In a sermon titled “Rejecting the Blood Shedding Culture” at the 60th National Day Thanksgiving Service held at Cathedral of Saint Peter, Ake, Abeokuta, Akinola identified “Godliness, righteousness and justice as foundation for building the desired peaceful, progressive and a respected nation.”

While pointing out that there must be “justice for all victims of Nigeria’s bloodletting”, Akinola urged the government to ensure that perpetrators of violent acts are punished appropriately.

Peter Akinola called on Nigerians to take the National Day celebration as “an opportunity for all citizens to shun bloodletting; God would have mercy on Nigeria if the people seek His intervention.”

In a remark by the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun stressed the need for a united effort to support and strengthen national development.
