BEVERLY HILLS, July 25, (THEWILL) – Nigeria Saturday reported 438 confirmed new cases of the coronavirus to bring the tally in the country to 39, 977, with 16, 948 recoveries and 856 deaths (11 new).
Lagos, which has remained the epicenter of the pandemic since it hit Nigeria’s shores, added 123 new infections. Kaduna posted 50 and Rivers 40. See below for a further breakdown.
The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, which announced the numbers Saturday, said it has tested 259, 516 samples as at July 24, 2020.
THEWILL notes that the number of cases reported by the NCDC are clearly not a clear and true reflection of the pandemic in the country because the agency can only test about 3, 000 samples daily, a far cry for a country with an estimated population of more than 200 million.
