BEVERLY HILLS, August 11, (THEWILL) – The United States government has fulfilled its promise to donate 200 ventilators to Nigeria to support Nigeria’s response against COVID-19 pandemic.
U.S Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Bert Leonard who presented them to government officials at the Abuja Premier Medical Warehouse in the nation’s capital, stated that this is in line with President Donald Trump’s promise to assist Nigeria in dealing with the pandemic.
This is coming exactly four months after President Donald Trump’s administration promised to support the country with ventilators to beef up Nigeria’s government’s efforts.
Trump’s promise is sequel to a telephone conversation he had with President Muhammadu Buhari on April 28.
Although Nigeria reported 1,337 confirmed COVID-19 cases with its death toll standing at 40 as of April 26, the number of infections has however risen to 46,867 with 950 fatalities as at August 10, 2020.
