February 27, (THEWILL) – Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has been declared winner of Saturday’s National Assembly elections for Edo North Senatorial District.
INEC Returning Officer, Benjamin Adesina, who announced the results, said the former Edo governor polled 107,110 votes to defeat incumbent Senator, Francis Alimekhena of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 55,344 votes.
“Adams Oshiomhole of APC, having scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared as the winner of the election conducted on the 25th of February for Edo North Senatorial District”, he said.
Also in Edo state, Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Peter Akpatason of the APC, was declared winner of the Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency election on Saturday.
The INEC Returning officer, Professor Robert Okuonghae, disclosed that Akpatason scored 14,982 votes to defeat Hon Kabiru Adjoto of the PDP, who polled 9,293 votes, while the Labour Party polled 7,993.
In the same manner, the husband of Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson, Odianosen Okojie, won the House of Representatives seat for the Esan South-East/Esan North-East Federal Constituency on the platform of the APC.
He polled a total of 21,764 votes to defeat the PDP, which scored 10,007, while LP scored 11,528.
The results were announced by the INEC’s returning officer, Dr Victor Imade.
The APC also won the Etsako Federal Constituency, where its candidate, Dekery Anamero, was declared the winner.
INEC returning officer, Professor Buniyamin Adesina Ayinde, said Anamero scored 58,692 votes to defeat Andy Momodu of the PDP, who scored 25,132.
