February 25, (THEWILL) – The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has denied voting at Idia College polling unit where the voting process was disrupted.
A release issued by the Special Adviser on Media Project to Governor Obaseki, Crusoe Osagie, said the report alleging that the Governor was at Idia College, where voting was disrupted, is false and malicious as he did not vote there.
He said the Governor cast his vote in Emokpae Model Primary School at 11.14am, along Mission Road at which point voting had only just started and returned to his home afterwards. Idia College is along Iyaro, in Benin City, a totally different location.
“The report alleging the contrary is malicious and should be disregarded by the public.
“The Governor is committed to peaceful, free and credible conduct of the polls in Edo State and does not condone violent conduct anywhere,” the statement states.
