June 30, (THEWILL) – At least 38 Nigerians deported from the United Kingdom (UK), arrived in Lagos on Thursday morning.

The deportees, who are mainly mothers and grandmothers, arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, in a Home Office charter flight.

Among them are also members of LGBTQ+ communities seeking asylum in the UK.

Some of the deportees claimed they have lived in the United Kingdom for many years.

However, the Nigeria Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BBC that the deportation was based on Immigration-related offences.
