NLC Warning Strike Commences In Kano With Closure Of KEDCO ,Ministries, Others

September 05, (THEWILL) – The two-day warning strike of the Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) commenced in Kano with the picketing of the headquarters of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company(KEDCO) by officials of the state branch of the NLC.

KEDCO distributes electricity to Kano,Jigawa and Katsina States as its franchise areas.

Checks by THEWILL revealed that the company’s premises were shut down in the early hours of Tuesday by the labour leaders as part of their efforts to ensure the success. of the strike.

The investigation also found that the Audu Bako Secretariat which houses most of the State Government’s ministries is under lock and key, with few visitors seen loitering around the main gate of the building.

Most of the banks in the commercial city also remain shut in compliance with strike orders,with customers resorting to patronising POS operators for their transactions.

However, markets, filling stations and other business outlets remain open,while movement of people and goods is going on normally.
