July 29, (THEWILL) — Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has generated $149.6 billion (about ₦204.2 trillion) in revenue since it commenced operations, while remitting $10.8 billion (approximately ₦14.74 trillion) in taxes to the Federal Government and paying $47.2 billion in dividends to shareholders.
The company also disclosed that it has begun preliminary discussions and exploratory work for proposed Trains 8, 9 and 10, signalling plans for another phase of expansion beyond the ongoing Train 7 project.
NLNG’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Adeleye Falade, disclosed this on Tuesday during the unveiling of the company’s Facts and Figures 2026 publication in Lagos.
Revenue milestone as tax payments exceed ₦14 trillion
Falade said the company has evolved into one of Nigeria’s largest corporate taxpayers and foreign exchange earners since commencing operations in 1999.
According to him, NLNG has paid $47.2 billion in dividends to its shareholders and $10.8 billion in taxes to the Federal Government since becoming tax compliant in 2009.
He added that the company currently operates six liquefaction trains, owns assets valued at more than $22.9 billion and has safely delivered over 6,285 LNG cargoes to customers across global markets.
Falade noted that NLNG currently accounts for about six per cent of global LNG supply, reinforcing Nigeria’s position as one of the world’s leading exporters of liquefied natural gas.
Train 7 nears completion, expansion plans gather pace
The NLNG boss disclosed that the Train 7 expansion project has reached 93 percent completion and is expected to increase the company’s production capacity by 35 percent, from 22 million tonnes per annum to 30 million tonnes.
He said the project would also boost liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production by about 50 percent, strengthening supplies to both domestic and export markets.
Looking beyond Train 7, Falade revealed that the company has commenced preliminary discussions and exploratory work on proposed Trains 8, 9 and 10 as part of its long-term growth strategy, although the projects are yet to reach the construction phase.
He described Nigeria’s estimated 290 trillion cubic feet of proven gas reserves as one of the country’s greatest economic assets, urging accelerated gas development while global demand remains strong.
Domestic gas supply and cleaner energy push
Falade said NLNG supplied a record 500,000 tonnes of LPG, commonly known as cooking gas, to the domestic market in 2025, accounting for roughly one-third of Nigeria’s total demand.
He warned that more than 470,000 Nigerians die every year from illnesses associated with the use of firewood and other polluting cooking fuels, stressing the need to deepen LPG penetration across households.
The managing director also highlighted the company’s contribution to environmental sustainability, noting that increased gas utilisation has helped reduce Nigeria’s gas flaring rate from about 65 percent to below 20 percent.
While acknowledging that gas supply constraints affected production in 2025, Falade said the situation has improved significantly this year, positioning the company for stronger operational performance.
He also announced the completion of the Bonny-Bodo Road, describing it as one of Nigeria’s largest corporate social responsibility projects. The road provides Bonny Island with its first direct road connection to the mainland, improving transportation and economic activities in Rivers State.
