November 30, (THEWILL) – A coalition of Northern and Southern Youth leaders under the aegis of the Coalition of Northern and Southern Youth Leaders Forum (CNSLF) has commended President Bola Tinubu over the re-appointment of the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), Engr Mele Kyari, and the appointment of Chief Pius Akinyelure as the Chairman of the Board of the NNPC Ltd.
This was conveyed in a statement by the Convener of the group, ex-militant leader, Comrade Emmanuel Fiawei Pathfinder, who commended the President for being wise with the appointments of Mele Kyari and Chief Pius Akinyelure, as they both represented the North and South region of Nigeria in the nation’s oil and gas company.
Pathfinder expressed optimism that both of them, being experienced persons in the oil and gas industry, will further take Africa’s number one oil giant to a new height in line with global standards in no distant time.
According to the statement, the nod to Kyari’s reappointment by Mr President is not far-fetched and is attributed to Kyari’s outstanding and painstaking excellent performance demonstrated by courageously repositioning the nation’s oil and gas sector to an enviable height with ease of doing business policies being implemented by the GMD.
He said: “When we received the news about the reappointment of the Group Chief Executive Officer, GCEO, of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Engr. Mele Kolo Kyari, we were all in great joy and massively appreciate the uncommon wise wisdom of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for this reappointment, because Mr President understands that you don’t change your winning team just because of merely concocted cheap blackmail of some oil thieves and vandals who does not mean well for our country.
“We thank Mr President immensely for not listening to these evil men, who are enemies of progress that do not mean well for the good of this nation. Making this reappointment of Engr Mele Kyari a reality is a very right step in the right direction and is good for the economic stability of the nation.
“Mr President believing in Engr Kyari is a way of saying, Mr Mele Kyari you have done a good job and you have to go and continue to finish the great job you have started and sustain the gains you have made for us and the country, and we are proud of you and will support all you do for our country as far as the nation’s oil and gas industry is concerned.
“We also believe that the gainsayers and the naysayers like SERAP and other disgruntled faceless civil society groups who are being sponsored to bring down the good work of Engr Mele Kyari to the mud will now all be put to shame because most of their sponsors, who are oil thieves and vandals, will be arrested and out to jail as soon as possible.”
Pathfinder also commended President Tinubu over the appointment of Chief Pius Akinyelure as the Chairman of the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, saying it is in the right direction and a sign of relief, a beacon of hope and a good omen for the oil and gas sector because he is a round peg in a square hole.
He described him as a trained financial expert and a seasoned administrator par excellence with many years of experience and expertise in the oil sector. “We will give the duo of Kyari and Akinyelure all the needed support and stand side by side in support of them to enable them to excel,” Pathfinder said.
The coalition also seizes the opportunity to sincerely appreciate the President for his wise decision to graciously appoint “one of our finest brilliant daughters of the Niger Delta region, a technocrat par excellence and an expert in the oil and gas sector, Mrs Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, as the Executive Vice President, Upstream.
“She is indeed a round peg in a round hole, and she has over the years proved her experience and expertise in oil and gas matters, which she had made an indelible mark in the industry via enormous achievements and policies that have reshaped the industry so far all these years.”
The Coalition is made up of Northern and Southern Youth Leaders Forum (NSYLF); Inclusive of Arewa Youth Movement; Yoruba Youths Ethnic Movement For Good Governance; Middle Belt Youth Movement, Niger Delta Women for Peace and Good Governance; Igbo Youth Movement For Peace; Ibibio/Efik Youths World Wide; Niger Delta Advocate For Peace and Good Governance, and inclusive of Niger Delta Ex-militant Movement for Peace.
