February 14, (THEWILL) – Former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, has called on the people of the state to continue to recognise old and new Naira notes as legal tender, saying “there is no law that currently stops their usage.”

Wamakko, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence and Senator representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, was speaking on Tuesday, after returning from Abuja for an official engagement.

Wamakko further wondered why the people would suffer themselves for nothing, urging that people should continue to receive and use the old Naira notes, pending the final decision by the authority concerned.

He further said, “Who can give out what he does not have?”

“These new Naira notes are not in circulation and not available, so why should one deny himself an opportunity to use the old ones?” Senator Wamakko asked.

He thanked the people of the state for their sustained invaluable support and cooperation to APC at all levels.

A special prayer was offered for the continued assistance and success of APC leadership in the State.
