Non-Reversal of Transactions Unsettles Ecobank Customers

Ecobank

December 08, (THEWILL) – In the past few days, Pan African Bank, Ecobank Nigeria, has recorded quite a number of complaints largely due to non-reversal of transactions which in most cases have been debited from the sender but did not get to the receiver.

The expectation and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) rule is that such transactions should be reversed within 24 hours.

Checks by THEWILL show that Ecobank has failed to deliver to its numerous customers in this regard.

For instance, a customer, Adedayo Adebowale, on the 7th December, 2022 tweeted “@ecobank_nigeria for how long should I wait for before you will return my hard earned money??? This is getting too much everyday. If you don’t want me to use your financial institution again I will understand but return my money first”.

Another customer with tweeter handle whereis_ evo@pisteevo on Wednesday lamented “You guys should better refund my money or send it. I sent money to another account and I’m yet to receive the alert after debiting me”.

Also Orijeru on the 7th December complained that “@ecobank_nigeria please reverse my money, I will go to any of your branch tomorrow morning if you fail to do needful”.

It is the same with another customer, Jennifer Ekpo who cried out on the 7th December, saying “@ecobank_nigeria Dear ecobank please what’s this wickedness since you debited me you don’t want to refund. Is it when I die of hunger that you will refund me. Jesus christ”.

Mr Chatta, a customer also narrated his ugly story this way: “According to @cenbank, no failed transactions should take more that 24hrs to be reversed. I complain about 2 failed transactions since on the 30th Nov, 2022 and your bank is yet to reverse. I sent a DM and an email, you totally ignore it, not even an acknowledgement.

“As if that was not enough, I went to you branch to lodge the complaint and filled a form. Nothing has been done Why???? What if this money was meant for medical emergency? @cenbank should call this bank to order”, the customer lamented.

Ashionye Edwards on his own part tweeted on the 7th December, pleading “@ecobank_nigeria, send me my money. Since Monday, they sent me money till now (Wednesday), I have not received it. Kindly do something”.
