
August 20, (THEWILL) – The Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN) has congratulated two former executives of the association, Olawale Edun and Mohammed Idris, on their appointment as ministers by President Bola Tinubu.
While Edun was NPAN’s Treasurer, Idris was the General Secretary.
Edun, an economist, was the Chairman of Vintage Press, publishers of The Nation Newspapers, while Alh. Idris, a public relations guru and media entrepreneur, is the Publisher of the Blue Print newspapers.
President Tinubu, on Wednesday, August 16, appointed Edun as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy, while Mohammed Idris was appointed as Minister of Information and National Orientation.
Commending the appointment, NPAN, on Sunday, in a statement signed by its President, Kabiru A Yusuf, described their appointment as “well deserved”.
“Their very rich resumes and track records speak for them and we congratulate them on their new assignments,” the Association said.
NPAN thanked President Tinubu for “giving them the opportunity to contribute to nation-building at this critical moment” of national development.
