December 14, (THEWILL) – Prominent figures, including Apostle Samuel Nwaire, General Overseer of the Christian Life Gospel Assembly, and Engineer Joe Igbokwe, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress have paid glowing tributes to the late Madam Ezinne Theresa Anekwe, who passed on at 86.
Speaking during a Service of Songs held in her honor on Thursday at Bucknor, Lagos, Igbokwe described the late Anekwe as a devoted woman of God, urging the bereaved family not to mourn but to celebrate her long and impactful life.
He further called on members of Ndi Igbo in APC to continue fostering unity and building bridges across Nigeria to strengthen relationships.
Apostle Nwaire, accompanied by his wife, Pastor Cecilia Nwaire, and a delegation of church members, extolled the virtues of late Madam Anekwe, describing her as a selfless and God-fearing woman who lived her life for others.
“Ma Anekwe exemplified the qualities of a virtuous woman. Her life was a testament to unwavering faith and compassion,” Nwaire said.
Mr. Moses Akaigwe, son-in-law to the deceased and a renowned auto journalist, described Madam Anekwe as a remarkable woman who became more than a mother-in-law to him.
Akaigwe said, “I went to Enugu to find a wife, but I found a mother.
“She was an embodiment of the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31, and her noble lifestyle has deeply influenced my marriage. My wife, Ambassador Stella Nkoli Akaigwe, reflects her mother’s strength and values, which have stabilized our union for decades.”
Akaigwe also expressed gratitude for the late Anekwe’s spiritual guidance and the legacy of love and faith she left behind.
Ijeoma Akaigwe, one of the deceased’s grandchildren, delivered an emotional tribute, highlighting her grandmother’s deep faith and spiritual leadership.
She said, “Our late grandmother was not just a spiritual guide but a pillar of strength and love in our family.
“Her faith in God was the foundation upon which she built her life, and we are comforted knowing she is now with her Savior.”
Mrs. Ada Iwuoha, widow of the late NUJ National President Bonny Iwuoha, shared a personal testimony of how Madam Anekwe prayed for her during her years of childlessness.
She tearfully presented her four children as evidence of answered prayers, describing the late Anekwe as a woman of great faith and intercessory power.
The event was attended by a cross-section of dignitaries, including APC faithful, community leaders, and representatives from Abagana and other Anambra State communities. Notable attendees included Barr. Peter Ozobialu, Chairman of Abagana Welfare Union (Lagos branch), and Chief Emmanuel Asiegbu.
Apostle Nwaire closed the service with prayers for the Akaigwe family, asking for God’s blessings on the funeral arrangements in Eziowelle, Anambra State.
The Service of Songs also featured scripture readings by the deceased’s grandchildren and a sermon by Pastor Chima Wisdom, who emphasized the importance of living a life of impact and faith.
