… Another Meeting Scheduled For Later Tonight
SAN FRANCISCO, September 10, (THEWILL) – As elders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) move to rescue the party from an imminent implosion, former Heads of State, Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida met with President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Tuesday at House No 7, inside the Presidential Villa.
Also at the meeting was a former Chairman of the party, Dr. Ahmadu Ali.
Though journalists were barred from venue of Tuesday afternoon meeting, THEWILL gathered that the private meeting was part of consultations and negotiations tailored towards reconciling the two warring factions of the party.
A source privy to the discussions at the meeting told THEWILL that an enlarged meeting has been scheduled for 9pm (local time) tonight.
Before the meeting which lasted for about 55 minutes, President Jonathan had met with the chairman of the main faction of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur as well as Governors Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom State), Gabriel Suswam (Benue State) and Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta State), who are strong backers of the president.
Neither Tukur nor the state governors agreed to take questions from state house correspondents as they departed the office of the President.
