November 16, (THEWILL) – Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Vice President Kashim Shettima were among the high-profile dignitaries who attended the wedding fatiha of Dr. Aishatu Kwankwaso, daughter of former Kano State Governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya political movement, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Saturday.
Aishatu was married to Fahad, son of Katsina-based business mogul, Dahiru Mangal, in a ceremony that virtually brought Kano to a standstill.
The wedding took place at the Palace of the Emir of Kano, with the Chief Imam of Kano, Prof. Sani Zahraddeen, officiating the ceremony.
The groom paid a dowry of N1 million.
The event drew a significant gathering of political and business heavyweights, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Other notable attendees included former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Senator Abdul Ningi, and Senator Adamu Aliero, a former Governor of Kebbi State.
Also present were former Edo State Governor Lucky Igbinedion, former Zamfara State Governor Mahamud Shinkafi, former Bauchi State Governor Isah Yuguda, former Akwa Ibom State Governor Victor Attah, and former Imo State Governor Achike Udenwa.
The ceremony witnessed the attendance of Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, the former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State Gen. Sani Abacha, and Senator Dino Melaye.
A standout moment of the occasion was the symbolic gesture by former President Obasanjo, who wore the signature red cap of the Kwankwasiyya political movement, further cementing his long-standing political ties with Kwankwaso, whom he has described as his “political godson.”
