June 19, (THEWILL) – Gunmen on Friday, attacked the convoy of former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, while travelling from Enugu to his state.
The former governor confirmed the incident on Sunday, at the birthday celebration of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the November 11 governorship election in Imo state, Samuel Anyanwu.
Speaking at the event which held in Amaimo in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, Okorocha said he was on his way to attend the burial of Dorothy Ihedioha, the mother of Emeka Ihedioha, former governor of Imo state.
Okorocha, who expressed surprise over the attack, added that a Sports Utility Vehicle, a bus and Hilux in the convoy, were riddled with bullets.
“I am angry and I believe what is happening in Imo State is worrisome. What we have here presently is a product of bad governance.
“I am angry because I spent two days in Enugu and nothing happened to me, but it is in my own state that the convoy released to me by the governor of Enugu State, a very good man, to attend the burial ceremony of Emeka Ihedioha’s mother at Mbaise was attacked and one policeman killed.
“Many people who are running to govern Imo State are not capable, but I have seen one man who the cap fits. When it is time I will speak”, he said.
