January 25, (THEWILL) – The Jigawa Police Command has confirmed the killings of two of its personnel in Taura Local Government Area while a son-in-law to a popular Jigawa Government contractor, Haruna Maifata was also abducted.
Spokesperson of the Command, Lawan Adam, identified the deceased officers as ASP Anas Usaini, a superintendent of police and Sunusi Alhassan, an inspector.
He said they were shot dead close to an improvised patrol vehicle which was set ablaze by the gunmen.
Adam said the incident occurred at Kwalam, one of the populous communities in Taura LGA, where the contractor lives, adding that the kidnappers abducted Ma’aru Abubakar, the son-in-law to the contractor.
He said efforts are being intensified to effect the arrest of the fleeing suspects.
Residents said the gunmen invaded their prime target’s residence after attacking a security formation and went into the town unchallenged.
