August 04, (THEWILL) – The Ogun State Chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has called on the public to beware of the activities of its former Chairman, Mr Oginni Olaposi Sunday, who still parades himself as the Ogun state chairman and Chairman of the State Chairmen of the party, saying he remained expelled from the party.
This is as the party maintained that the party’s Presidential candidate in the 2023 General elections, Senator (Dr) Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, remains one of the major pillars of the party.
The party, in a statement signed by the State Public Relations Officer, Omokehinde Olowu, on Friday, said the party was shocked to see a recent letter being displayed on social media, purportedly written by its former Chairman, Mr Oginni Olaposi Sunday, presenting himself as Chairman of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Ogun State Chapter and Chairman of all State Chairmen of NNPP.
The party warned the unsuspecting public and media houses that Oginni has been expelled by the national leadership of the party and that his expulsion was given the required public awareness.
The party, in the statement, wondered how an expelled Chairman, who challenged his expulsion in court and lost, still claimed to be a member of NNPP, not to talk of being Chairman of the Ogun State Chapter.
This, according to the party, is contempt of court, which the law will take its course in due time.
The party also wondered about his claim to being the Chairman of the state Chairmen of the party, saying the acclaimed state chairmen must have been former members of the party like him.
Ogun NNPP said Oginni was expelled by the leadership of the party due to his fraudulent activities and affront to the Constitution of the Party, NNPP.
“He felt dissatisfied with his expulsion and challenged the decision of the Party in court and lost woefully.
“We want to reiterate categorically that Oginni Olaposi Sunday has ceased to be a member of NNPP, and by extension that of Ogun State Chapter.
“He cannot in any way stand, speak or do anything in his former capacity as the Ogun State Chairman or speaks on behalf of the Party in Ogun State. The General Public as well as the Security agencies should please take note.
“We want the public not to have any transactions with him on behalf of our great party, the NNPP. Whoever transacts or does any business with him is on his or her own. The National Headquarters of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) will not take responsibility for such transactions.
“We urge the General Public to beware of this unscrupulous element and his cohorts and should always get in touch with the new leadership of the Party in the state for any dealing with the party.
“We want to use this avenue also to caution some media houses to be wary of Oginni’s antics and stay away from giving him undue publicity, and stay away from disseminating fake and unverified information on his behalf. If care is not taken such media may face the consequence and be prosecuted in the court of law for conspiracy for impersonation and false information.
“We want to use this medium to dissociate ourselves from his act of mischief and that of his co-travellers and we want to state categorically that Our National Leader, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, remains the pillar of the party in Nigeria and we will resist by all means any attempt by miscreants and political jobbers to malign his personality.”
