December 29, (THEWILL) — The Ogun State House of Assembly on Monday passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill of N1,668,997,993,125.44, just 26 days after it was presented by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The passage followed the presentation of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation by its Chairman, Musefiu Lamidi.
The motion for the adoption of the report was seconded by Folawewo Salami and supported by the whole House through a voice vote during a plenary presided over by Speaker Oludaisi Elemide at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The bill was adopted clause by clause before the Committee of the Whole House. Subsequently, the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, moved the motion for the third reading, which was seconded by Minority Leader Lukman Adeleye and supported by a unanimous voice vote.
Speaker Elemide directed the Clerk of the House, Sakiru Adebakin, to transmit a clean copy of the bill to Governor Abiodun for his assent.
While presenting the committee’s report, Lamidi explained that the Assembly adjusted the budget proposals of three Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
These adjustments led to a slight upward review of the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) target by N2.193 billion.
To maintain the total budget expenditure of N1.668 trillion as originally presented, an equivalent amount was reduced from the capital receipts.
In a related development, the Assembly also passed the 2025 Revised Appropriation Bill and the Revised Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for 2026–2028.
