
June 03, (THEWILL) – Ondo lawmakers, on Saturday, elected Olamide Oladiji, representing Ondo East constituency, as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
Oladiji was elected during the inauguration of the 10th assembly at the assembly complex in Akure.
He was nominated unopposed by lawmakers representing Ifedore, Mr. Temitope Akomolafe and Biola Oladapo of Ondo West 2.
Prince Abayomi Akinruntan, representing Ilaje 1, was also elected unopposed as the Deputy Speaker.
The event commenced with the Clerk of the House, Benjamin Jaiyeola, reading out the proclamation of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Jaiyeola, thereafter, read a roll call of all members-elect as sent by INEC and their Certificates of Return submitted for authentication.
Addressing the Assembly, the new Speaker Oladiji said the 10th Assembly would ensure checks and balances in the affairs of Ondo State, thereby bringing the dividends of democracy to the people.
