SAN FRANCISCO, January 28, (THEWILL) – If you’re still wondering what the fuss about social media is really all about, this should say it all.
Media mogul, Oprah Winfrey reportedly cashed in a whooping $12 million for tweeting about how she was able to loose weight and still eat bread, reports Market Watch.
Oprah is an individual stakeholder in Weight Watchers International Inc. and her tweet, which included a video yesterday, where she revealed that she lost 26 pounds while eating bread everyday got the company a 16% rise in stocks. Oprah owns about 6 million shares in Weight Watchers and thanks to the surge in share prices after the tweet, she made $12 million. (She can only get the money if she choses to sell her shares however).
