SAN FRANCISCO, May 11, (THEWILL) – Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, a former Governor of Abia State, is still behind bars days after the Supreme Court nullified the judgement that convicted him alongside others because he was not a party to the suit, THEWILL has gathered.
Mr. Ude Jones Udeogu, a former finance commissioner in the Abia State, who was convicted alongside Kalu, was the only applicant in the suit before the apex court challenging the High Court under Justice Mohammed Idris’ propriety to try him having been elevated to the Court of Appeal.

The former governor will have to revert to the court system to seek his freedom citing the ruling of the Supreme Court as foundation for his release, multiple lawyers said.
