May 03, (THEWILL) – Former National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, will formally declare his bid to contest the 2023 presidential election on Wednesday.
The formal declaration was earlier scheduled for Friday, April 29, at the Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Arts and Culture Abuja. But a statement by his media aide, Victor Oshioke, said a new date for the declaration will be communicated appropriately.
Oshioke had said, “The proposed formal declaration of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for the office of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria under the platform of APC, which was advertised to hold today, April 29th, 2022, at the Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Arts and Culture Abuja, is hereby postponed.
“The new date for the event will be communicated appropriately.
“We are deeply sorry for the inconveniences this unavoidable postponement may have caused numerous supporters of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole across the country.”
However, the former labour leader in a press statement issued on Tuesday, has scheduled Wednesday, 4th May, 2022, for the formal declaration.
“The formal declaration of Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole to contest for the office of President, Federal Republic of Nigeria in the 2023 general election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, which was postponed, has now been rescheduled, after extensive consultations, to hold as follows:
Date: Wednesday, May 4th, 2022.
Time 3 pm Prompt.
Venue: Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Arts and Culture, Area 10, Abuja.
“Your presence will be highly appreciated.
“We apologise for the short notice and hope that your love for Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole will motivate you to attend, irrespective of any unforeseen constraints”, the statement read.
By entering the APC presidential race, Oshiomhole will be pitted against a crowded field of contenders.
Among other aspirants for the APC Presidential race include, former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige; former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha; former Abia State Governor, Orji Kalu; Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba; Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello and Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi.
