SAN FRANCISCO, January 19, (THEWILL) –
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo is Chairing a committee comprising of himself and nine state governors saddled with the responsibility of ending the herdsmen’s killings being witnessed in parts of the country.
The committee was constituted by the National Economic Council (NEC), which is also headed by Osinbajo, at its meeting, held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday.
This was disclosed by Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, alongside Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the NEC meeting presided over Osinbajo.
Ganduje named members of the committee to include Governors of Kaduna, Zamfara, Taraba, Benue, Adamawa, Edo, Plateau, Oyo, and Ebonyi states.
The governor said the committee would collaborate with the Federal Government in addressing impunity regarding killings and violence in many parts of the country.
He also said that the committee will work to ensure that all the perpetrators of violence are brought to book.
On his part, Umahi revealed that the Council approved the resolution of the 59th National Council on Health that at least between 0.5 per cent to 1 per cent of the monthly allocation to states be earmarked for financing the implementation of the HIV/AIDS sustainability roadmap.
