Former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salam, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2026 gubernatorial election in the state.
Salam clinched the ticket on Monday through a consensus arrangement at the party’s governorship primary, polling 520 votes out of the 528 delegates who participated in the exercise.
The chairman of the ADC Electoral Committee, Chukwumeka Nwajuba, commended party members for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the primary, describing the process as transparent and credible. He urged stakeholders to close ranks and work collectively to ensure the party’s success at the polls.
In his acceptance speech, Salam expressed gratitude to party members for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to run an inclusive campaign that would carry all members along.
He said the ADC was poised to offer Osun residents purposeful leadership anchored on good governance and people-oriented policies.
The governorship primary was observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), lending further credibility to the exercise.
