March 13, (THEWILL) — PalmPay has reaffirmed its commitment to gender inclusion in the tech ecosystem with the third edition of its Purple Woman programme, Purple Woman 3.0, to empower young women with digital and technical skills.
The initiative focuses on equipping female participants with practical knowledge and industry exposure to help them build careers in technology and fintech. As part of the programme, 10 outstanding participants were awarded internship placements at PalmPay, providing them with hands-on experience in areas such as software development, product management, user experience design, and data analytics.
Beyond technical training, the programme also featured mentorship sessions, career development workshops, and interactions with professionals within the fintech sector. These sessions were designed to prepare participants for the demands of the fast-evolving digital economy.
PalmPay noted that the initiative is part of its broader effort to help close the gender gap in technology by supporting women with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in the industry.
The company emphasised that empowering women in tech is essential for innovation and sustainable growth, as diverse teams often deliver more effective and creative solutions.
Through programmes like Purple Woman, PalmPay aims to nurture the next generation of female tech professionals while creating more inclusive opportunities within Africa’s rapidly expanding fintech landscape.
