BEVERLY HILLS, December 16, (THEWILL) – A gas pipeline leakage along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has caused panic among residents of Arepo, Magboro, and other neighbouring communities.

There were reports of a ruptured gas pipeline during construction works on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday.

A resident of Forthright Gardens Estate, Omobolaji, said a loud sound was heard around 9:30 a.m.

According to him, the pipeline eruption caused panic as many residents of the estate rushed out of their apartments.

The leakage which occurred near The PUNCH newspaper was later put off after about three hours by emergency responders from Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), LASEMA Response Unit (LRU), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) who had to switch off supplies to the leaking pipeline from the Ibafo Gas Station.
