January 29, (THEWILL) – Half of the musical duo, P-Square, Paul Okoye, has blasted the Nigerian Federal lawmakers for pretending to be advocates for the masses regarding the deadline for the old naira notes.
Last Tuesday, the Senate asked the Central Bank of Nigeria to extend the deadline for exchanging old naira notes from the January 31st deadline to May 31, 2023.
They also urged the CBN to open an exchange window, where people that don’t have bank accounts can deposit their old notes.
However, the singer took to Instagram to criticise their statement on Sunday.
Okoye claimed that the federal lawmakers wouldn’t have said anything if the situation didn’t affect them.
“During the pandemic, people were hungry, where was the senate when the palliatives were discovered?
“Same government was hiding food for the citizens, they were silent and dumb because it didn’t affect them.
“Now with the CBN naira redesign, they became spokesmen for the poor cos it affects them. Imagine if there was no election. I swear, they won’t say pim!!”, he wrote.
