November 20, (THEWILL) – The five aggrieved governors of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, are currently meeting in Lagos.
PDP stakeholders including Olusegun Mimiko, former governor of Ondo; Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti; Donald Duke, former governor of Cross River; Bode George, former deputy national chairman, are also at the meeting.
Tagged ‘the Integrity’, the G5 include Wike, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu.
The meeting, being held at the Southern Sun hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos, is expected to discuss the lingering crisis rocking the PDP and adopt a position on the presidential flag bearer of the party, as well as the leadership of the party.
Wike and his allies have called for the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu, as the PDP chairman to create a regional balance in the leadership of the PDP.
The outcome of the meeting may be shaped by recent reconciliatory moves by former military President, Ibrahim Babangida, as well as former President, Goodluck Jonathan.
