SAN FRANCISCO, August 29, (THEWILL) –   The National office of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday suspended the Uba brothers — Senator Andy Uba and Chief Chris Uba, alongside factional Chairman of the party in Anambra State, Chief Ejike Oguebego, over their refusal to appear before the National Working Committee of the party in Abuja, to explain why they shouldn’t be sanctioned for conducting a parallel governorship primary last Saturday where Andy emerged governorship candidate.

The party also suspended Benji Udeozor and Mrs. Tonia Nwankwu.

They were informed of their suspension in a letter addressed to them individually by the PDP Acting National Secretary Remi Akintoye.

Despite the directive of a federal high court, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, ordering the PDP and the electoral commission to recognize Andy Uba as the party’s governorship flagbearer in the state, the PDP leadership in Abuja has adopted Mr. Tony Nwoye, who was elected at another primary, as its flagbearer in total disregard to the court.

The governorship election has been scheduled to hold on November 16, 2013.
