April 02, (THEWILL) — The Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, has reiterated the request of the Gbong Gwom Jos, Jacob Gyang Buba, for a special audience with the president to discuss the Plateau situation further after today’s meeting held at the departure hall of the Heipang Airport near Jos.
Governor Mutfwang, who noted that he had had extensive discussions with the President on the last Sunday attack in Jos and related security matters, also commended Mr President for the prompt manner in which he responds to issues affecting Plateau State, and expressed appreciation for the release of funds to the contractor to commence work on the Akwanga-Jos Road.
In their remarks during the stakeholders meeting, former Governors of the State, Jonah David Jang and Simon Lalong, regretted this consistent trend of attacks and bloodletting in the State, and emphasised the need for the President to grant stakeholders an audience in a closed-door meeting as soon as possible to end the cycle of attacks and violence in Plateau.
Responding, President Tinubu, who expressed confidence in the ability of the security agencies to track and trace the perpetrators of the attack, said he was particularly happy that the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Inspector-General of Police were present and part of the stakeholders meeting.
President Tinubu, who said he looks forward to a period of prosperity and progress, promised that the government will acquire and install security cameras to ease crime and criminal surveillance.
The meeting came to a close with the President’s expression of regret over the attacks, loss of lives, and general insecurity situation at 6 pm.
