
January 17, (THEWILL) – The Sokoto State Police Command has apprehended two individuals, Imrana Umar from Minanata and Isah Usman, also known as “Man,” from the Makera Asada area, over allegations of theft and vandalism.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, disclosed the arrests in a statement issued on Friday, detailing how the suspects were apprehended in separate incidents following swift responses by the police.
According to DSP Rufa’i, the first arrest occurred on January 13, 2025, after a distress call from the Diplomat Area reported an angry mob assaulting a suspected thief.
“The Strike Force team responded promptly and rescued the suspect, Imrana Umar, from the mob. During interrogation, Umar admitted to trespassing into Abdulhamid Muhammad’s residence and stealing his TVS motorcycle,” the statement read.
In a separate incident, the Strike Force Unit received a tip-off from the Vigilante Group in the Kofar Kware Area, leading to the interception of Isah Usman.
He was found with stolen items, including four ceiling fans and electric wires.
“Usman confessed to stealing the items from Hafsatu Girls Secondary School and Ila’il Academy Arkilla. He intended to sell them to an accomplice identified as Yunusa, of Kuffa Area, who is currently at large,” DSP Rufa’i explained.
Recovered items include the stolen motorcycle, electric wires, and the four ceiling fans.
