August 25, (THEWILL) –Â The Lagos State Police Command has said an officer of the Command was killed by gunmen on Wednesday, in Coker, Aguda area of the state.
The deceased officer, an inspector, whose identity was not revealed, was on a tricycle when he was shot, Spokesperson of the State Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said.
Hundeyin, however, said the Command had commenced investigation to track and arrest the gunmen, adding that the tricycle driver was arrested for questioning after the incident, but later released with an instruction to return to the station on Thursday, for more questioning.
“He had left and was going somewhere inside a tricycle. He actually hired the tricycle and was the only passenger. He was attacked, shot and his service pistol taken away. It happened in the afternoon around 3 pm, he died in the night”, Hundeyin said, adding that the identity of the deceased would only be revealed after contacting his family members.
