Ibrahim Idris IGP

SAN FRANCISCO, July 03, (THEWILL) – The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, was reportedly summoned to the presidential villa in Abuja on Monday.

Idris who met with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, inside the vice-president’s office, left the villa without speaking with reporters.

The meeting took place hours after some mobile policemen in Maiduguri, Borno state capital, protested the non-payment of their allowances in the last six months.

A presidential source said the IGP was asked to comment on the embarrassing incident.

Curiously, Jimoh Moshood, force spokesman, had blamed the non-payment on the delay in the passage of the 2018 budget.

He also denied that there was a protest in Maiduguri, saying the officers involved only made inquiries about their allowances.
