November 21, (THEWILL) — The Kebbi State Police Command has cautioned residents against embarking on any protest over the recent abduction of students of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar Kotarkoshi, the command said it had received intelligence reports indicating that some groups and non-governmental organisations were mobilising for demonstrations in reaction to the incident.
Kotarkoshi noted that the current security situation in the state remains delicate and unsuitable for any form of protest or rally.
He warned that such gatherings could escalate tensions, trigger violence and disrupt ongoing rescue operations.
“While the police acknowledge public concern over the abduction, any planned protest at this time is misguided and counterproductive,” he said.
He added that demonstrations could undermine the efforts of security agencies working to secure the safe return of the abducted schoolgirls.
The spokesperson reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining public order.
He urged residents to support security operations by promptly reporting suspicious movements to the nearest police station or any other security agency.
