SAN FRANCISCO, August 16, (THEWILL) – President Goodluck Jonathan and the President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, on Friday, commiserated with the government and People of Jigawa State over the death of the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Inuwa Sule Udi Ringim, who died in a ghastly motor accident along Kano – Ringim road on Thursday.
The President, while expressing utter shock at the death which, he described as “very painful and untimely,” said Jigawa State and the nation would miss the legislative experience of Honourable Udi, a third-term member of the State House of Assembly.
President Jonathan, in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, prayed that God Almighty would console members of the Udi family and grant the soul of the departed lawmaker peaceful rest.
President of the Senate, Mark, also sent a message of condolence to the government and people of Benue State over the untimely death of the Special Adviser to Governor Gabriel Suswam on Security Matters, Patrick Gwar, in Makurdi.
In a separate message to the governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, and his Benue State counterpart Suswam, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the President of the Senate, Paul Mumeh, Senator Mark lamented that both Ringim and Gwar died in their primes when their services were most needed by their families, their states and the nation at large.
He specifically lamented that Ringim departed with his rich and deep legislative experience needed to build a strong legislature and ultimately strengthen the nation’s democracy.
Mark added that “Ringim was an apostle of good governance and a crusader for dividend of democracy to the ordinary people.”
Senator Mark noted the contributions of Ringim especially in the propagation of democracy through his robust legislative agenda as a presiding officer in the Jigawa state House of Assembly and urged his colleagues to uphold and sustain the vibrancy for which Ringim was known.
He enjoined the government and people of Jigawa state especially the bereaved family to take solace in the fact that late Ringim lived a short but eventful and accomplished life worthy of emulation.
Senator Mark also told the government and people of Benue state to take heart on the demise of the Special Adviser to Governor Suswam on Security matters Patrick Gwar, saying that the security expert left a positive foot print on the sand of time.
He noted the expertise of late Gwar on security issues during his tenure, saying his proactive approach to security matters prevented criminal activities and made the state one of the safest states in the country.
He prayed that the Almighty God grant the deceased eternal rest and the bereaved the fortitude to bear the sad loss.
