July 14, (THEWILL) – The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), Abuja, on Friday, reserved judgment in the petition filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) against the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.
A five-member panel of Justices, led by Haruna Tsammani, on Friday, reserved judgment until a date to be communicated after parties in the petition adopted their final written addresses.
Justice Tsammani said the PEPC will deliver judgment along with the petitions filed against President Bola Tinubu by Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his counterpart in the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.
THEWILL reports that the APM, in a petition filed on its behalf by Andrew Malgwi, is among others seeking the nullification of Tinubu’s election on the grounds that his running mate, Kashim Shettma, was not qualified to contest having allegedly engaged in double nomination.
Respondents in the petition are the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC, Tinubu, Shettma and Kabir Masari (who acted as APC’s placeholder before Shettma’s nomination).
