
August 12, (THEWILL) – Hundreds of residents of Kano State, on Saturday, filed out to protest against the planned military intervention by the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) to restore constitutional authority in Niger Republic.
ECOWAS leaders, on Thursday, at its Extraordinary Summit in Abuja, directed military forces of the member states to be on standby.
Condemning the use of force against the military junta in Niger on Saturday, the Protesters, while moving in a procession, displayed Niger’s flags and chanted anti-war songs.
“Nigeriens are our brothers, Nigeriens are also our family. Niger is ours, we don’t want war, war against Niger is injustice, a plot by the Western forces,” the chanted.
