Rauf Aregbesola
The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola

July 16, (THEWILL) – The Minister of Interior and former governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has shunned his successor and the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, who is seeking a second term bid as the governor of the State.

Aregbesola, who jetted off to Germany on Friday, to attend the conference organised by the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, has been missing in action in the state of the living spring, despite the fact that his party is at the poll.

He was also absent at Oyetola’s campaign, which was held a few days to the election.

While chieftains of the APC were sweating in the sun in the State of Osun, Aregbesola went to inspect the level of damage wreaked at the Kuje Correctional Centre weeks ago.

This development is coming after the rumoured reconciliation of the two politicians went viral.

The duo have been at loggerheads for a couple of years over unresolved political interest.

Aregbesola accused Oyetola of opposing everything he stood for during his administration. He revealed that Oyetola waged war against him when he became the governor of the State of Osun.

When Oyetola assumed leadership of the state, he opposed and reversed most of the policies and political decisions made during Aregbesola’s tenure, despite the fact that they both made those policies together because he was the Chief of Staff to Aregbesola during his tenure.

Aregbesola in turn, anointed Moshood Adeoti, as his own candidate and stopped supporting Oyetola.
