March 05, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Red Cross Society, through its Mother’s Club Peer Learning Centre, has trained over 10,000 women in various skills across Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states, as part of its ongoing efforts to empower communities affected by conflict.
At a training event held in Maiduguri, the organisation reaffirmed its commitment to providing sustainable livelihood opportunities for women facing economic hardship.
Speaking at the event, a representative of the National President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Ummah Mustapha Mohammed, commended the beneficiaries for seizing the opportunity to acquire new skills, noting that the initiative was designed to ease economic challenges in crisis-affected areas.
Also addressing the gathering, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross, Maiduguri Branch, Mohammed Zannah Barma, disclosed that over 10,000 women across the three states had benefited from the program.
He urged them to apply their skills effectively to improve their livelihoods and contribute to their communities.
Representing the Borno State Governor, the Head of Service, Barrister Mallam Fannami, lauded the initiative as timely and pledged the government’s continued collaboration with the Nigerian Red Cross to support vulnerable communities.
Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the organizers, promising to use their newly acquired skills to enhance their economic prospects.
The event also featured an awards ceremony recognising individuals who demonstrated exceptional dedication and contributions to the program’s success.
